Today we will tell you how you can quickly and practically at zero cost make high-quality LED furniture lighting from LED tapeWe take the remaining pieces of LED strip (I think everyone has them), as well as pieces of aluminum profile. It is about 1 m long (so much material is left), but you make it according to your furniture configuration. The ON / OFF control is electronic here – a touch button with two stable states. The main advantage of this solution will be immunity to external interference, as well as zero power consumption at rest, limited only by static and internal leakage in the components used. LED1 can be anything. It is better to use red because of the smallest voltage drop across it, corresponding to the larger voltage drop across the resistor R5 – about 9 V when on. According to documentation for full control of transistor Q1 used when powered by 12V.

Operation of the power management system

After power is applied, the capacitor C1 is charged with a positive potential through the resistors R1 and R2. The system remains at rest.

Pressing button SW1 discharges capacitor C1 through LED1, optocoupler US1, and resistor R4. The current pulse from capacitor C4 turns on transistor US1, and is held by the optocoupler current flowing in the circuit of resistor R3, R4, LED1, transistor US1 and LED US1, which is triggered by this transistor. The voltage drop across resistor R4, as a result of the current flowing in the holding circuit, causes the gate of transistor Q1 to open and turns on the output of the circuit.МА

When the button is released, capacitor C1 is discharged through the drain of transistor Q1 and resistor R2.

Pressing the SW1 button again will cause capacitor C1 to charge, shorting resistor R3 to ground, and thus momentarily drop the voltage of LED1 and LED US1 below saturation, causing loss of support for transistor loop US1 and LED US1. Resistor R4 will now drive the gate of transistor Q1 to ground and thus disconnect the output of the circuit from the load.

LED strip installation and assembly

Let’s start lighting, we will process the aluminum profile for mounting the LED strip. To improve the resistance of the button to pressure, I glued a piece of adhesive tape.

Next, install the button and LED strip in the profile. Combining fragments of the LED strip with each other, we use electrical tape at the junctions.

Then solder the power supply to the switch.

Well, at the end of the assembly, we will fix it on the furniture where necessary with a self-adhesive, double-sided tape. It turns out like a factory one, with the only difference that it is almost free and you can assemble any configuration for your interior.
