On Saturday, China launched a new satellite into its planned orbit, saying it would be used primarily to test new technologies in orbit.

The Shiyan-20C satellite was launched at 09:01 local time (0101 GMT) on a Long March-2D launch vehicle from the Jiuquan Space Center in northwest China, local media reported.

According to the Chinese news agency Xinhua, the launch was the 445th launch vehicle in the Long March series.

The spacecraft, designed and built by the Shanghai Microsatellite Innovation Academy of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, will be used to test new technologies such as space environment monitoring, China Daily reported.
